The IdISBa was founded as an institution to foster, develop and integrate research of excellence in health sciences, paying particular attention to co-operative, cross-cutting and multidisciplinary research, and with a markedly translational goal. To achieve this goal, the efforts of the different research groups and institutions need to be brought together, generating synergies and exploiting economies of scale of the participating institutions:
