Additional Information
The Biobank has held official authorization since 11 January 2013, granted by the Directorate‑General for Health Research, Teaching, and Accreditation of the Government of the Balearic Islands (file no. 3409).
It is also registered in the National Biobank Registry with the number B.0000527 and is part of the Biobanks and Biomodels Platform of the Carlos III Health Institute.

El IdISBa Biobank is a member of the ISCIII Biobanks and Biomodels Platform, an initiative of the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII) that includes more than 50 Spanish biobanks and aims to promote biomedical research through the provision of advanced services related to biological samples and experimental biomodels.
The ISCIII Biobanks and Biomodels Platform also participates as the national node of BBMRI‑ERIC, one of the most relevant research infrastructures in the European Union.

The Biobank Platform makes high-quality biological material available to the scientific community, together with the clinical and demographic data associated with this material. Standardized working protocols are used, while complying with current regulations on donor autonomy and data protection.

- Guaranteed quality, security, and traceability of stored biological samples and data.

What is the procedure for requesting samples?
The first step is to complete the application form provided by the biobank and attach the following documentation:
- Favorable opinion from the Research Ethics Committee.
- Research project proposal.
- Summary of the research group's scientific activity.
- Proof of funding.
The biobank's technical team will notify the applicant of the availability of the requested samples and provide a budget estimate according to the project requirements.
The next step is to obtain approval from the biobank advisory committees (Ethics Committee and Scientific Committee), in accordance with Article 34.4 of Royal Decree 1716/2011.
To formalize the transfer of samples, a Sample and Data Transfer Agreement will be signed between the person responsible for the scientific direction of the biobank and the person responsible for the research project requesting the samples.
Finally, the samples are sent to the applicant.
