Seminar MLwrap: Facilitating the Use of Machine Learning

On 16 November, from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm, IdISBa will host a new session of its Seminars 2026 series entitled "MLwrap: Facilitating the Use of Machine Learning", delivered by Dr Albert Sesé Abad and Dr Juan José Montaño, principal investigators of the PSICOMEST research group at IdISBa and Professors of Methodology of Behavioural Sciences at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB).

The seminar will address an increasingly relevant topic in research: how to incorporate Machine Learning techniques into scientific projects without requiring advanced programming skills. During the session, the main machine learning models and their potential applications in research will be presented through an introductory overview.

In addition, the speakers will demonstrate a practical example using MLwrap, a package developed by the PSICOMEST group that enables researchers to apply Machine Learning techniques easily within the R statistical environment, making these methods accessible to users with no prior experience in programming or Machine Learning.

The session will also introduce MLwrapj, a jamovi module that provides the same functionalities through an intuitive graphical user interface, eliminating the need to write code. The aim of the seminar is to offer a practical and accessible introduction to these tools, helping participants understand their potential and assess how they can be integrated into their own research projects.

Speakers:

  • Dr Albert Sesé Abad, Principal Investigator of the PSICOMEST group (IdISBa).
  • Dr Juan José Montaño, Co-Principal Investigator of the PSICOMEST group (IdISBa).
