Marina Perpiñán Blasco Joins the PROSALUT2023/28 Project

The Health Research Institute of the Balearic Islands (IdISBa) has welcomed researcher Marina Perpiñán Blasco as part of the PROSALUT2023/28 project, under the supervision of Ernest Sala Llinàs.

Marina Perpiñán Blasco, who holds both a Master's degree and a PhD, joins IdISBa under a permanent project-linked contract and will carry out her research activities on a full-time basis at Son Espases University Hospital, Floor -1, Module F.

The researcher will join the Inflammation, Repair and Cancer in Respiratory Diseases (i-RESPIRE) research group, which focuses on studying the mechanisms involved in respiratory diseases and on developing new therapeutic strategies aimed at improving their diagnosis and treatment.

The PROSALUT2023/28 project seeks to evaluate the potential of umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells (UCMSCs) as a possible treatment for fibrotic diffuse interstitial lung diseases (ILDs), a group of disorders characterized by progressive scarring of lung tissue that can severely impair respiratory function and patients' quality of life.

The incorporation of Marina Perpiñán Blasco will contribute to the development of this research project and strengthen the scientific activity of the i-RESPIRE group, fostering advances in knowledge related to respiratory diseases and advanced therapies.

This contract is funded through a grant from the Autonomous Community of the Balearic Islands (Directorate General for Health Research, Training and Accreditation) and may be co-financed up to 60% by the ERDF Programme of the Balearic Islands 2021-2027.
