IdISBa's External Scientific Committee Meets to Address the Institute’s Strategic Challenges
Today, IdISBa is holding the annual meeting of its External Scientific Committee (ESC), the independent advisory body that helps guide the institution's scientific strategy and promote research excellence.
The meeting has been an opportunity to present the main scientific achievements of 2025, review progress on the 2025-2029 Strategic Plan, and discuss a range of initiatives related to innovation, equality, philanthropy, talent attraction, and researcher career development.
The Committee is chaired by Magdalena Sastre, Professor of Medicine at Imperial College London, and is composed of a group of nationally and internationally renowned experts from leading institutions in biomedical research, clinical medicine, artificial intelligence, and therapeutic development. Its members include representatives from the Ramón y Cajal Health Research Institute, the University of the Balearic Islands, Vall d'Hebron University Hospital, the Autonomous University of Barcelona, the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), IDIBAPS, and the Hospital del Mar Research Institute.
During the session, ESC members shared their recommendations on the Institute's scientific priorities, the programmes that should be strengthened, and the strategic partnerships that can help consolidate IdISBa's position as a leading centre for health research and innovation.
