Citizens, companies and organisations can contribute to advancing the fight against disease through donations, fundraising initiatives, legacy giving and other forms of collaboration.

The Health Research Institute of the Balearic Islands (IdISBa) has launched its new donation platform, dona.idisba.es, a digital space designed to facilitate public participation in the funding of biomedical research and to channel the solidarity of individuals, companies and organisations towards projects that help improve health and quality of life.

The Minister of Health, Manuela García, highlighted that this initiative represents "a new way for citizens to actively participate in the generation of scientific knowledge and the improvement of people's health."

For his part, Carlos Enrique Herrero, Managing Director of IdISBa, emphasised that the platform "brings research closer to society and offers different ways to collaborate so that any individual, company or organisation can contribute to the scientific development of the Balearic Islands." He also stressed that every contribution helps generate knowledge, foster innovation and move towards more precise and effective medicine.

The platform offers several ways to get involved. Interested individuals can make a one-time or recurring donation to IdISBa to support its overall research activity, or they can contribute to specific projects. Current initiatives include cancer research, studies on paediatric stroke, a pioneering regenerative medicine project aimed at restoring vision, and the development of the 3D Simulation and Printing Unit at Son Espases University Hospital. New research lines and projects will be added progressively.

The new tool also facilitates the creation of fundraising initiatives, enabling birthdays, weddings, sporting events, concerts, exhibitions and any other community activity to become an opportunity to raise funds for research. In addition, it includes collaboration opportunities for Research-Friendly Companies, allowing businesses to strengthen their social commitment by supporting projects with a direct impact on public health, as well as the option of making legacy gifts to contribute to scientific advances for future generations.

With this new platform, IdISBa takes another step towards bringing research closer to society and making it easier for everyone to be part of the scientific advances that will shape the healthcare of the future.
