Four undergraduate students join IdISBa through the García-Palmer Summer 2026 programme

Today, four final-year undergraduate students from the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) joined the Health Research Institute of the Balearic Islands (IdISBa) through the García-Palmer Summer 2026 programme.

The aim of this programme is to bring biomedical and health research closer to university students through theoretical and experimental training activities that introduce them to research within the Institute's different research groups. These extracurricular placements involve a commitment of 30 hours per week and provide participants with first-hand experience of the research activities carried out at IdISBa.

With this year's call, the project has now reached nine editions, aiming to promote scientific vocations and facilitate students' engagement with biomedical and health research carried out in the Balearic Islands.

These are the four students joining IdISBa this year and their host research groups:

  • Juan Pedro Alonso Pons, a Biochemistry student, joins the Multidisciplinary Translational Oncology Group, under the supervision of Jorge Sastre Serra.
  • Adrián Muñoz Montoya, a Biology student, joins the Energy Metabolism and Nutrition Group, under the supervision of Ana Maria Proenza Arenas.
  • Sara Slimani El Moufakkir, a Biochemistry student, joins the Cell Therapy and Tissue Engineering Group (TERCIT), under the supervision of Joana Maria Ramis Morey.
  • Helena Campoy Sánchez, a Biochemistry student, joins the Neurophysiology, Behavioural Studies and Biomarkers Group, under the supervision of Manuel Miró Lladó.

At IdISBa, we warmly welcome them and wish them a rewarding learning experience that contributes to their academic and professional development, while also inspiring new vocations in the field of biomedical and health research.
