Course on the Patentability of Computer-Implemented Inventions
The Health Research Institute of the Balearic Islands (IdISBa) is organizing a training session focused on the patentability of computer-implemented inventions, an increasingly important topic in the fields of innovation and knowledge transfer. The course will provide a practical overview of the criteria used to determine whether a software-related invention can be protected through patents, as well as the key aspects that must be considered during the assessment process.
The session will be delivered by Sara Sánchez Paradinas, Senior Examiner in the Department of Patents, Designs and Technological Information, who will share her expertise on patentability requirements, existing exclusions, and the assessment of inventive step in computer-implemented inventions.
Programme: The course will cover the main aspects related to the patentability of computer-implemented inventions:
- Patentable inventions and their technical character.
- Exclusions and exceptions.
- Computer-implemented inventions.
- Inventive step and its assessment in computer-implemented inventions.
- Practical examples.
This session is aimed at researchers and professionals interested in protecting research results and exploring the opportunities that intellectual and industrial property can offer for the valorisation of innovation.
