This is a charity race aimed at bringing together sport, fun, and solidarity.
What are rare diseases?
In Europe, rare diseases are those that affect fewer than 5 people per 10,000 inhabitants.
There are between 6,000 and 7,000 rare diseases, so despite their low frequency, they affect between 6% and 8% of the population. It is estimated that there are more than 3 million affected people in Spain, approximately 6,000 of them in the Balearic Islands.
Most of these diseases are chronically debilitating or potentially life-threatening and, due to their low prevalence, require special efforts to combat them.
For all these reasons, they represent a major health problem that must be addressed.
OBJECTIVES
-
To raise awareness of rare diseases and increase public understanding.
-
To promote research, as all proceeds will be allocated to research projects led by the participating associations.
-
To advocate for better social and healthcare services and to defend the rights of affected individuals, as well as to improve their quality of life.
